It was printed from new hand set type on a <a title="Three Revolution Hoe Press" href="http://letterpressprinting.com.au/page51.htm" target="_blank">three-revolution hoe press</a>, at a cost of <span id="more-241"></span></p>
<p><a href="http://townofwirt.files.wordpress.com/2008/08/newspaper_boy1.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-219" src="http://townofwirt.files.wordpress.com/2008/08/newspaper_boy1.jpg?w=300" alt="" width="300" height="240" /></a></p>
<p>$4000.  It carried at least seventeen columns of advertising.  At four o&#8217;clock in the morning the press began to roar and an hour later boys were on the street delivering still moist papers brimful of well edited news, sparkling local items and the latest market reports.  The subscription rate was $10.00 per year, 5¢ per copy.</p>
