March 9 Meeting

I was unable to attend this months meeting, well ok, that’s not completely true, I just chose not to attend.  This month’s meeting was held on my birthday and I could think of 1,000 other things I would rather do than attend a town board meeting on my birthday.  Thank goodness for Gary though, the trooper that he is.  He attended for me and taped it so that I could get all the information to everyone.

It was a pretty drab meeting as far as meetings go.  Not much activity.  There was discussion about the town’s insurance and how the board is not happy with the fact the insurance did not pay for a recent claim.  The board now plans on bidding out the insurance for next year.

The new doors have been installed at the highway shop and the old doors will be put out to bid. Be on the lookout for that advertisement.

Curt gave his report on the highway crew:

  • They have put stone on the Clark, Dimmick, Harlan Ames, Bowker and Watson Roads in the bad spots
  • They will be working on ditching the Dimmick and Zimmer Roads as soon as the ground dries up so they can safely haul ditch dirt.
  • They will work on brush control in the meantime.
  • It’s pothole season will be putting cold patch the pot holes.
  • They have 500 tons of sand/salt mixture on hand

The board accepted the judges and dog control officers report.  There were no reports  from the assessor or town clerk.

The cemetery bids were opened with only one being received.  Theresa Baldwin will mow the cemeteries and town hall again this year.  The total bid was $1,950.00 this includes her supplying the equipment and fuel.

The funniest part of this meeting was when Dick Kozlowski, completely out of the blue, asked about the stove for the shop and why nothing has been done about it yet.  Uhmmm, I believe he was one of them that voted to table it last month until the new doors were installed.  Either he needs to pay more attention at the meetings, take notes himself and go over them before the next meeting or resign.  This man has a one track mind.  This meeting it was getting grant money from the state for things that aren’t even needed and the coal/wood stove.  If it wasn’t about these two subjects it was like he wasn’t even in the same meeting as everyone else.
