Thank you so much for posting the Terms of Use for those who proudly proclaim they know it all and prove every time that they know nothing. I am sitting here wondering how "taxpayer money" is being used for the establishment and upkeep of this site when I know for fact that it is on a private server. The webpage itself is being created by a private citizen who has nothing to do with Richburg, Wirt, Allegany County or even the State of New York. The format, articles and posts are done by a person who has nothing to do with the local government or the tax collector's office. Yes, I said tax collector's office. I couldn't think of any other way that this site was wasting taxpayer money unless the tax collector was paying someone to do the work with money collected from the community.

To all of the people who have nothing better to do with their time than to run their mouths about things in life that they don't understand or don't agree with, I tip my hat to you for bringing this “crucial” problem to light. As for me, I think the waste of taxpayer money is paying local officials to perform a job inadequately, unprofessionally and inefficiently, and who obviously have too much time on their hands. And that money does come out of our pockets. Think about it. The value of our homes increased for tax purposes while the value of real estate everywhere else is actually decreasing and our economy is in so much trouble that people can't afford to buy food for their family or gasoline for their vehicles. I am still wondering how the value of my home increased over ten thousand dollars with no improvements, but I wouldn’t get an intelligent answer if I asked for an explanation. I guess you don't have to worry about wasting taxpayer funds when you can recoup it by increasing property value without a reason for that increase. I wonder if the tax assessor would like to buy my home for the price she has it valued at. That is a thought. I could make enough money to buy a nicer house out in the country away from all this small town drama.

I am thankful that someone is willing to take time out of their own busy schedule to research the history of Wirt, both past and present (sitting through a town meeting when you don’t have to deserves praise on its own merit), and create such an informative, imaginative, resourceful website for our enjoyment and education. To that person, I say thank you. To those other people with nothing better to do than gossip and complain, I say “Get a life.”
